All Ours Inclusion Symposium 26
Tuesday June 16, 2026 9:45am - 11:00am AKDT
DESCRIPTION:
This session provides educators with practical tools to plan and deliver meaningful Community-Based Instruction (CBI) that helps transition-age students apply academic and functional skills in real-life settings. Participants will learn simple ways to integrate social skills—like communication, boundaries, and problem-solving—into community lessons to promote independence, safety, and confidence.

OBJECTIVES:
1. Explain the purpose and benefits of Community-Based Instruction for transition students.
2. Identify key social skills to target during CBI activities.
3. Design a short CBI activity that teaches and reinforces appropriate social interaction in a community setting.
