Real-Time Guidance: How Behavior Technicians Build Adult Capacity
Tuesday June 16, 2026 9:45am - 11:00am AKDT
DESCRIPTION:
Behavior Technicians (BTs) often play a powerful role in providing real-time, in-the-moment coaching to educators supporting students with behavioral needs. Participants will learn how BTs partner with teachers and paraeducators to model strategies, prompt practices discreetly, and offer supportive feedback that strengthens adult skill sets without interrupting classroom flow. The session will explore practical techniques for coaching during instruction, including prompting effective reinforcement, shaping staff responses during escalations, and reinforcing high-quality interactions with students. Through examples and stories from local classrooms, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how real-time coaching builds staff confidence, improves consistency, and creates more inclusive and predictable learning environments.

OBJECTIVES:
1. Participants will learn practical strategies Behavior Technicians use to provide real-time coaching to strengthen implementation of behavior supports.
2. Participants will be able to identify ways real-time coaching improves consistency, predictability, and inclusive practices within classrooms
