Let's talk about Threat Assessment and risk reduction. My experience with School Based threat assessment started in 2012 when I was first trained in the Salem Kaiser Model with staff and administrators from the Sunnyside School District. Prior to starting work at ESD105, I worked in Community Behavioral Health and Integrated Care programs in Central Washington. My most extended period of employment was 17-years working at Comprehensive Healthcare as a Vice President, Director, and Designated Crisis Responder. In the Crisis Responder role I spent 13-years with the Yakima Police Department as a Hostage Negotiator where I received training from the FBI (Level I and II Hostage Negotiations), Dominic Messino (NYPD Detective - Emergency Response Team), Midwest Counter Drug Task Force Training, ALERT - Threat Assessment Training, helped establish the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training for law enforcement and worked with Don Kamin and others on the Youth CIT training model.
Joining the SSOCC has been something I’ve wanted for years, and I now have the opportunity to work with schools across Central Washington.
